If you caught any of the Super Bowl car commercials, it’s likely that you remember the extremely powerful ad for the Maserati Ghibli. There’s no arguing that it was one of the stronger commercials in the lineup, but after its televised debut, much of the buzz about the all-new addition to the Maserati lineup quickly turned to its unique name—a name which has a lot of people wondering: how do you pronounce Maserati Ghibli?
It was a question that had us stumped for a while. We recently looked at the what the Ghibli is and had a few guesses on the reason Maserati ultimately chose the name to represent their new luxury sedan, but we had absolutely no idea of how it was to be pronounced.
In typical CarDebater fashion, we thought we would go straight to the source. We took the question to a member of the Maserati team at the Chicago Auto Show. Well, actually, I’m not really sure if she is associated with Maserati, but she was extremely attractive and was standing in front of the car, so that makes her a reputable source to me.
She was gracious enough to provide us with the correct pronunciation, and I have to say, watching her sound out both of the syllables while standing in front of the Ghibli had me head over heels in love—with the new name of course.
