What Will Be The Legacy Of The Newest Subaru?

You’ve probably already seen the new Subaru Legacy ahead of its official debut. After all, it leaked online everywhere. And the public opinion of the vehicle wasn’t exactly great from those leaked photos.

But at the Chicago Auto Show Thursday, we got to see the official Legacy. And yeah, it was pretty much the same car. There’s nothing really “wrong” with the Legacy, it just didn’t have the “wow” factor many Subee fans were looking for.

Subaru President and CEO Tom Doll called the Legacy “the smart alternative in the mid-size sedan segment.” He also referred to it as a good choice in a segment that he himself said could be boring at times. I’m not sure being the best in a boring segment is something you want to claim, but it is what it is.

Give Subaru credit for the presentation, though. The Legacy was hidden in a box that lifted up. The unveiling itself was done in 3-D printer style, with the end result being the Legacy appearing as smoke billowed out.

The new Legacy does have a pair of new Boxer engines equipped to a new CVT transmission, so I’m guessing it is pretty fun to drive. Whether consumers will adopt the new Legacy remains to be seen.
