Exec Turns Out To Be Uber Creep
I don’t know of anyone that has used Uber and doesn’t like it. I mean, it’s easy, it’s fast and it avoids you having to ride in a dirty cab. What’s not to like? Well, the tracking might be something people take issue with.
BuzzFeed reporter Johana Bhuiyan used the ride-sharing app recently while on her way to do a story about the very company providing her with the ride. But when she arrived, Uber New York GM Josh Mohrer greeted her as she exited the vehicle and said: “There you are. I was tracking you.”
Mohrer used the internal company tool called “God View” to track Bhuiyan. But since Mohrer never asked permission to track her, he’s in deep stuff over this and is being investigated by Uber.
You have to know that you can be tracked by Uber, right? The very way the app works seems to lead to that obvious conclusion. But clearly Mohrer could have gone about showing it off a little better…
I can’t imagine what he was thinking immediately creeping out a reporter. And for BuzzFeed, nonetheless. Josh, you need to use a few more smarts than that.
