Here It Is: The New Kia Soul EV
As expected, the Kia Soul EV was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show this morning. Until now, the only official photo of the vehicle was an interior shot released by Kia. All eyes were on the Kia area as the media got a look at the new Soul EV. Kia even had a live band to mark the occasion.
Aside from the obvious unique design of the EV, Kia told us that the electric Soul will the vehicle will have a 27 kWH lithium-ion, 360 volt battery and an electric motor that is capable of producing around 109 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque. The range is expected to be 80-100 miles. It will have two charging ports located in the grille and feature a regenerative braking system.
Another interesting tidbit about the Soul EV is that it will feature biodegradable plastic, bio-foam and bio-fabric to complete the “green” feel.
But the real question is, would Spongebob drive this version of the Soul? An electric car underwater seems like a bad idea. But, so does every car really.
Kia also showed off the new Kia Optima Hybrid and Kia K900 and the Kia Niro concept at the show.
