Straight Outta Compton NASCAR Race Car Demands Respect
I never thought I would see the day. Two of my teenage obsessions, NASCAR and gangsta rap, have finally come together – if only for a day. This Saturday, driver Tomy Drissi will be piloting the Straight Outta Compton Toyota Camry during the Xfinity race at Watkins Glen.
While I may have been a misguided youth with what most would consider misaligned interests, the connection between Drissi and the film that chronicles the rise and fall of NWA may actually make a little more sense. You see, Drissi is actually an ad exec from Hollywood that became known in the automotive community through illegal street racing. Now, he’s trying his hand(s) in legally driving a vehicle at ridiculous speeds while promoting a Hollywood film.
But however it happened, I love it. I mean, look at the hood on that car. My only gripe – it should be a Chevy. I don’t remember seeing Ice Cube roll down the street in a Toyota back in the day. But, I suppose I can’t complain too much. Because, just look at that hood.
