Unintentional Comedy Overshadows Chevy Vehicle…Again

Leave it to Chevy to hilariously flub something up in the spotlight. While it wasn’t #TechnologyandStuff, the unveiling of the 2016 Equinox did have a laughable moment – and it involved the vehicle’s most questionable “upgrade.”

While talking about the extensive features on the new Equinox, the Chevy exec presenting the vehicle referred to it as “expensive.” Oof, not a word you ever want to use when trying to sell a new car – especially in front of media. He then went on to attempt to cover the mistake by stating “The grille does look expensive, doesn’t it?” Double oof.

Part of the reason this was so funny was the fact that the 2016 Equinox has very few actual updates – and one of the only updates on the exterior is the new grille and front end. And it doesn’t look good. Somehow, the Equinox has managed to keep getting uglier as it ages. This may be a life truth in humans, but we expect vehicles to learn from the past and get more appealing. Not so with the Equinox.

Other minor updates on the new Equinox include projector-beam headlights, new tailights, standard 7-inch screen, standard rearview camera, and a storage shelf.

Other than the surprise announcement involving the Chevy Bolt, Chevrolet didn’t appear to have much else left in the tank for Chicago after a busy run in Detroit. But at least they gave us a laugh.

There’s the expensive…or extensive grille.
