What Is The Maserati Ghibli – And Why The Weird Name?

We certainly weren’t expecting the first car commercial of the Super Bowl to be from Maserati. But you know who should have been aware of it? Maserati. Right after the ad hit, the Maserati website went down temporarily. After shelling out huge money for the second overall ad spot and putting together a pretty stellar ad, you would have thought that Maserati would have been ready for major site traffic. But hey, at least the ad did its job of driving consumer interest, right?

So what is the Maserati Ghibli? It will be the entry-level sedan for Maserati. But while the entry-level term may seem appealing, it will still cost you a pretty penny. But with two turbocharged six-cylinder engines, the performance will impress. And, it is a Maserati, so we’re guessing the ride will be pretty smooth.

As for the name, we’re not entirely sure of the origin. The definition is “a hot, dust-carrying desert wind in North Africa.” But, Maserati is Italian, so who knows. But, the car has been in the Maserati lineup in the past, last appearing in the 90s.
