When a vehicle is referred to as a rally car, there are certain features that you would expect from it. One of them would probably be all wheel drive. Another would be a fast engine under the hood. But sadly, it appears the 2016 Hyundai Veloster Rally Edition that was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show will have neither of these.
The matte blue finish, blue accented sport seats, custom rims, racing shifter and other features do give it a very sporty look. But there’s no way the car is really going to compete in any rally race, even if it does have springs, dampers and a front stabilizer bar that Hyundai says are “higher performance.”
And even if you did want this very specialized Hyundai, fact is – they are only going to be making 1,200 of them. So good luck with that.
The unveiling of the 2016 Hyundai Veloster Rally Edition wasn’t the highlight of the show, but it wasn’t the worst part of it either. How very Hyundai.
